ANA Mileage Club (AMC) is Japan Airlines' frequent flyer program where you earn Miles through flights, partner airlines, credit cards, and affiliated services. Separately, ANA status is primarily determined by Premium Points (PP) — a different metric from redeemable miles.

The key concept:

  • Miles = what you spend (awards, upgrades, partners)
  • PP = what you accumulate to qualify for elite status

This is where EconoMile becomes practical: it lets you compare fares, estimated PP, and estimated miles side by side, including "efficiency" metrics like PP per $100 and miles per $100.

Useful pages:

1) Two Different Metrics: Miles vs. PP

AMC Miles (Redeemable)

Miles are the spendable currency in the program. Typical uses:

  • Award flights (domestic/international)
  • Upgrades (rules vary by fare/route)
  • Partner redemptions (rates and availability may change)

Premium Points (PP)

PP is primarily used to qualify for ANA elite tiers (Bronze / Platinum / Diamond). Even on the same itinerary, miles and PP can differ significantly depending on the ticket.

Status Requirements (2026)

Status Required PP Of which ANA Group
Bronze 30,000 15,000+
Platinum 50,000 25,000+
Diamond 100,000 50,000+

Alternative qualification paths exist for ANA cardholders via "Life Solution Services."

2) A Simple Model of How PP Works

PP can be thought of as a combination of:

PP = Segment Miles × Earning Rate × Route Multiplier + Boarding Bonus

Route Multipliers

Route Multiplier
Domestic ×2
Japan ⇔ Asia/Oceania/Vladivostok ×1.5
Other international ×1

Earning Rates by Booking Class (International)

Cabin Booking Class Rate
First F, A 150%
Business J 150%
Business C, D, Z 125%
Business P 70%
Premium Economy G, E 100%
Premium Economy N 70%
Economy Y, B, M 100%
Economy U, H, Q 70%
Economy V, W, S, T 50%
Economy L, K 30%

Booking classes O, I, R, X are not eligible for earning.

EconoMile's value is showing estimated totals and the calculation breakdown, so you can see why two tickets with similar fares might earn very differently.

3) What is SFC (Super Flyers Card)?

SFC is a special credit card available to those who achieve Platinum or Diamond status. Once obtained, as long as you continue paying the annual fee, you maintain semi-permanent Star Alliance Gold benefits.

Key SFC Benefits

  • Star Alliance Gold: Lounge access worldwide
  • Priority Boarding: Priority on all ANA Group flights
  • Priority Baggage: Your checked bags arrive first
  • Dedicated Security: Skip the lines at security checkpoints
  • Upgrades: Domestic Premium Class and international seat upgrades

SFC Qualification Requirements

  • Achieve Platinum (50,000 PP) or Diamond (100,000 PP) status
  • Or accumulate 1 million Lifetime Miles on ANA Group flights

"SFC Mileage Run" refers to strategically taking flights to achieve Platinum status efficiently.

4) Why EconoMile is Useful for AMC Planning

AMC planning gets complicated because:

  • Earning can swing significantly by booking class
  • Status optimization (PP) and award optimization (miles) don't always point to the same choice
  • Comparing "where to credit" (ANA vs partner programs) is tedious without a unified view

EconoMile helps by showing:

  • Estimated fare ranges
  • Estimated Premium Points and miles
  • Efficiency metrics like PP / $100 and miles / $100
  • (Where supported) cross-program comparisons (e.g., ANA vs United vs Turkish)
  • Cross-cabin comparisons (Economy / Premium Economy / Business / First)

5) How to Use the Destination Overview Page (Tokyo Roundtrip)

Page: https://econo-mile.com/en/ana/tyo/roundtrip

Destination overview page

This page is designed for quick screening. For each destination, you can compare:

  • Price
  • ANA: estimated PP and PP / $100
  • ANA: estimated miles and miles / $100
  • (Where available) other programs' metrics (e.g., Miles, Status Miles)

A practical workflow:

  1. Start with PP / $100 if your goal is status
  2. Cross-check with price and travel practicality
  3. If your goal is award travel, focus on miles / $100 and your preferred program's redemption options

In the right-side panel, you can:

  • Toggle one-way / roundtrip
  • Change origin/destination
  • Filter airlines
  • Select the crediting program (ANA / United / Turkish, where supported)

6) How to Read a Route Detail Page (Example: Tokyo ⇄ San Francisco)

Route detail page

6.1 Route Summary at Top

You'll see a route-level range summary:

  • Fare range
  • Estimated PP and PP efficiency
  • Estimated miles and miles efficiency

This gives you an instant sense of how the economics change across ticket types and cabins.

6.2 Cabin Cards (Economy / Premium Economy / Business / First)

Each cabin card summarizes:

  • Fare range
  • Estimated PP and PP efficiency per $100
  • Estimated miles and miles efficiency per $100

7) Flight List: Booking Class Matters (A Lot)

Flight list

The flight list breaks down the route into ticket groups like:

  • Economy (booking class Q / L / S / …)
  • Premium Economy (booking class E / N / G / …)
  • Business (booking class Z / D / …)

…and shows for each:

  • Fare (or fare range)
  • Estimated PP
  • Estimated miles
  • Efficiency metrics (per $100)

8) Expand for Calculation Breakdown (PP + Miles)

Calculation breakdown

On supported rows, expanding a flight shows the estimated formula components (illustrative example):

For Tokyo ⇄ San Francisco (Economy, booking classes Q and L):

  • NRT → SFO (class Q): 5,130 mi × 70% = 3,590 PP
  • SFO → NRT (class L): 5,130 mi × 30% = 1,539 PP
  • Total: 5,129 PP

Note: Outbound and return may have different booking classes, resulting in different earning rates.

9) Recommended EconoMile Usage (Goal-Based)

If Your Goal is ANA Status (PP)

  1. Compare options by PP / $100
  2. Narrow down to realistic itineraries (duration, connections)
  3. Routes with ×1.5 multiplier (Asia/Oceania) tend to be more efficient
  4. Then evaluate fare rules and booking constraints

If Your Goal is Redeemable Miles

  1. Compare by miles / $100
  2. Consider your preferred redemption strategy
  3. If available, compare crediting programs (ANA vs United vs Turkish) for the same route

If Your Goal is SFC (Platinum Status)

  • Target 50,000 PP with a combination of efficient routes
  • Remember that 25,000+ PP must be on ANA Group flights
  • Departures from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) or Singapore (SIN) benefit from ×1.5 route multiplier

  • Any numeric values shown here are examples from EconoMile screens at a specific point in time and may not reflect real-time availability.
  • EconoMile's fare ranges and estimated earnings are based on collected pricing data and may not cover every date or fare condition. Always confirm final price, availability, and fare rules when booking.
  • PP earning has "ANA Group flight" requirements, so status conditions may not be met with Star Alliance partner flights alone.
